I live in Washington, DC. and first began working with clay at age 12 in Columbia, Missouri when my mother signed me up for classes with Naoma Powell, a generous, selfless, and kind woman who has spent her life making the arts accessible to children.
I am currently an apprentice teacher at Hinckley Pottery, working with Jill Hinckley, another very talented and very special lady to whom I owe a great deal.
With Jill's help, I have been studying classical throwing techniques influenced by a strong Asian aesthetic of simplicity and harmony in form. That is what I consider to be the bedrock of my work.
However, I'm also exploring my own organic aesthetic on the side, which is slowly but constantly developing.
In my other life, I received my Masters in Foreign Affairs from Georgetown University and am exploring careers in Journalism and International Development.
